ARTIST STATEMENT
I revisit my childhood home through language, drawings, and household findings. I record and preserve my adolescence, while confronting how my perceived reality was different than my lived experience. out of bounds is a book where color is drained from the pages and fences mark limits. I write letters to my father that recall independent moments in time. Quilts recall a place. Childhood drawings have been rearranged to capture confusion. The interaction between real, found objects and fabricated elements are vital to the telling of my narrative. This parallels the confusion between what I was raised to think was healthy and normal, and the trauma I was actually living through; what is reality and what isn't, becomes one.
